Now that you have visited the great architectural achievements of the Inca, it will become clear to you that the Sun was the main deity worshiped in the Inca culture. Cusco celebrates the Inti Raymi on the occasion of the winter solistice -the solar new year- for a people whose main object of worship was the god Inti (the sun). In the time of the Incas it was a religious ceremony, now it is a theatrical performance. However, this expression generates a feeling of identity in the town that evokes values and memories that are still excellent in our days, it also brings to mind memories that live in the heart of the town of Cusco.

The Inca gives a traditional prayer in the Temple of the Sun, Koricancha, asking for blessings from the sun, which is said to have been the origin of the Inca rulers. From here the Inca leads the procession through the ancient city of Cusco to Sacsayhuaman in the hills above the city. Transfer to the ruins where you have reservations to see the reenactment of the ancient ceremony of sacrificing a llama to the Pachamama, Mother Earth (don’t worry, llama sacrifices are simulated!), To ensure the fertility of the land and the heat from the sun.

At the end of the Festival, you will see the Inca representative carried in a litter drinking chicha (a fermented drink). With an appropriate ending, the Inca gives a speech expressed in the original Quechua language. In the afternoon transfer to the Hotel.

The roofs are waterproof and the houses are extremely humid due to the surrounding water. After the visit, we can ride a reed boat (extra charge US $ 7.00).
